Must I Go To Church?

As a Christian, it’s important for you to identify with a local assembly; it’s a must for you to have a church you can call your HOME, where you can participate fully in the activities. Otherwise, you’ll deprive yourself of a lot of God’s blessings and you’ll be walking out of line with His Word. His desire is for us, His children, to attend church meetings (Hebrews 10:25). Jesus had a culture of going to “church.” It was part of His personal discipline and devotion to do so (Luke 4:16). We ought to follow His example and live as He did, having been called into fellowship with Him.

An important reason to go to church is that it’s a place of solution to life’s questions. It’s uniquely equipped by the Holy Spirit to communicate wisdom from God to you since the wisdom of the world can’t satisfyingly provide solutions to life’s issues because it’s destined to fail (1 Corinthians 2:6).

The church is also a place of upliftment, encouragement, and refuge, where a Christian is guaranteed to receive encouragement and words of refreshing. This is often needed after the travails of the marketplace of life. There, you’ll receive the undiluted truth, and learn new things that are progressive to your benefit.

Until you demonstrate your commitment to the local assembly, you can’t be described as a committed Christian. This is because the local assembly is a microcosm of the spiritual body of Christ, which is God’s representative on earth. Make a decision to function in a local assembly, if you’re not functioning in one already. That way, you’ll be demonstrating your commitment to the body of Christ.
